Introduction:

Pomide belongs to anti-cancer therapy of Oncology Division. Pomide Capsule is an anticancer medicine that belongs to a class of drugs called immunomodulatory agents. Pomide Capsule is used to treat Multiple Myeloma (a type of Blood Cancer) in patients who have received at least two prior therapies, including lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor.

Pomide Capsule can cause various side effects, including Fatigue, Fever, Bone Pain, Muscle Cramps, and Diarrhoea. Additionally, it may decrease the number of red and white blood cells in the blood, making the patient more susceptible to infections. Regular monitoring through blood tests is necessary to check the levels of blood cells, as well as heart, liver, and uric acid levels.

Pomide can be taken with or without food, but it is recommended to take it at the same time each day for optimal results. Dosage and frequency of use will be determined by your doctor based on your specific condition and may change over time. It is important that you follow your doctor's instructions and do not change the dosage or frequency of intake without their guidance. Taking Pomide 1 mg Capsule in the wrong or excessive amounts may cause serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for the full effects of treatment to appear, but you should not stop taking it without consulting your doctor.

Pomide has not been established as safe and effective for use in children below the age of 18.

Instructions:

Your doctor or nurse will give you this medicine. Kindly do not self-administer.

A Thalidomide analogue is indicated, in combination with Dexamethasone, for patients with Multiple Myeloma who have received at least two prior therapies including Lenalidomide and a proteasome inhibitor and have demonstrated disease progression on or within 60 days of completion of the last therapy.

Multiple Myeloma (A type of Blood Cancer): Pomide is used in the treatment of Multiple Myeloma a type of blood cancer that affects plasma cells in the bone marrow. Symptoms of multiple myeloma can include Fatigue, Weakness, Weight Loss, Anaemia, etc.

Pomide can be taken with or without food, but it is recommended to take it at the same time each day for optimal results. Safety Advice 
Liver

  • USE WITH CAUTION Pomide should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. It is important that patients with liver disease closely monitor liver function while taking Pomide Capsule and report any unusual symptoms or changes in liver function to their doctor. The dose of Pomide may need to be adjusted in patients with liver disease. 

Kidney

  • USE WITH CAUTION Pomide Capsule should be used with caution in patients with Kidney disease. It is important that patients with kidney disease closely monitor kidney function while taking Pomide and report any unusual symptoms or changes in kidney function to their doctor. The dose of Pomide may need to be adjusted in patients with kidney disease. 

Driving

  • UNSAFE Pomide Capsule may cause dizziness, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating and coordinating, which may affect your ability to drive a vehicle safely. It is important to follow your doctor's instructions and take necessary precautions such as avoiding driving a vehicle or operating heavy machinery if you suffer from the side effects of this Pomide 

Pregnancy

  • UNSAFE Use of Pomide Capsule may be unsafe during pregnancy as animal studies indicate that it may harm the developing foetus. However, if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant, it is important to talk to your doctor about the potential risks and benefits of taking Pomide Capsules during pregnancy. Your doctor will be able to help you make the best decision for you and your baby's health. 

Alcohol

  • UNSAFE It is not recommended to consume alcohol while taking Pomide Capsule. Alcohol may increase the risk of side effects or interfere with the effectiveness of the Pomide. It is best to talk to your doctor or pharmacist before consuming alcohol while taking any medicine. 

Breastfeeding

  • UNSAFE It is not recommended to breastfeed while taking Pomide Pomide capsules may pass into breast milk and harm the infant. If you are breastfeeding and taking Pomide, it is important to talk to your doctor about the possible risks and benefits of continuing to breastfeed. Your doctor will be able to help you make the best decision for you and your baby's health.
